Privacy policy
Who we are
(ART)ONEMENT is a non-commercial arts festival co-produced by Africa Nomads Art Space and Living Design Studios, based at Kilima Road, Mombasa, Kenya. For any question about your personal data, contact us at info@artonement.org.
We process personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
What we collect, and when
We only collect personal details when you choose to give them to us. That happens in two places:
- The email sign-up box at the bottom of this website. This collects your email address and nothing else.
- Our activity submission form and organising team form, which are Google Forms hosted by Google and subject to Google's own privacy terms.
We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or third-party scripts on this website. Our typeface is served from our own domain rather than an external font service, so visiting the site does not share your details with anyone.
How we use it
Your information is used to coordinate festival programming, communicate schedule updates, organise volunteer teams and manage material donations. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with third parties or commercial entities.
Where it is stored
Website form submissions are held by Netlify, our hosting provider, and are accessible only to the organising team. Google Forms responses are held by Google. Both may store data outside Kenya.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at any time. Email info@artonement.org and we will act on your request. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya.
Terms of use & community charter
Community conduct
(ART)ONEMENT is built on radical acceptance, inclusivity and mutual respect. Visitors, activity hosts, volunteers and participants are expected to maintain a safe, welcoming and harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of background, identity or skill level.
A non-commercial space
In line with our gift economy model, no commercial solicitation, vending or unauthorised monetisation is permitted within Africa Nomads Art Space during festival hours without prior agreement with the organising committee.
Media and documentation
Photography, audio recording and videography take place across the venue for archiving, media coverage and promotional storytelling. By entering the space, you consent to appearing in community media. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please tell a team member or the crew photographer on site and we will respect that.
Co-created artwork and ownership
Collaborative works built collectively on site, including the central reclaimed sculpture, remain shared community assets managed by (ART)ONEMENT and Africa Nomads Art Space. Individual workshop hosts and artists retain full intellectual property and ownership over their own curricula, performance pieces and personal creations.
Activities held off site
Activities that form part of the programme but take place away from Africa Nomads Art Space remain the responsibility of the host, including any permissions, safety arrangements and insurance required at that location. Hosts must agree the venue with the organising team before advertising an activity as part of the festival.
